The SNP Leader has been criticised for her insistence on delivering a second referendum for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom. bScottish author and presenter Neil Oliver argued Ms Sturgeon has largely dismissed other serious political issues in Scotland as she continues to drive support for indyref2. Speaking with GB News, he said: “She is successful at selling herself, at pushing herself as a figure, that is what she is skilled at. The point is she is not skilled at anything else.”

Mr Oliver continued: “When it comes to properly looking after the country, Scotland has its needs.

“The Scottish people are a population, we have problems here at home, there are things that need address.

“The fact that Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP are completely incapable of dealing with those problems, she knows that.

“She is incapable, she is incompetent, her party are incapable and incompetent.”

The Scottish GB News presenter claimed the SNP focus on delivering Scottish independence has clouded other issues requiring political attention within the country.

Mr Oliver said: “All she does is try to distract attention from that.

“She exists, her party exists, to pursue a single objective which is independence.

“She can’t deliver it, it’s never going to happen but she’s trapped on the hamster wheel.”

Mr Oliver argued the SNP has only sustained support by appealing to pro-independence groups but the party is failing to benefit Scotland as a whole.

“She has to keep on promising it, she has to keep on throwing red meat to her base.

“So, she’s going to be out there in the United States pontificating about an independence that only a fraction of the Scottish population want.

“For as long as she is there, for as long as the SNP dominates in Scotland, it is always to the disastrous suffering of the better part of the population of Scotland.”

The SNP has pledged to deliver a second referendum on Scottish independence to allow Scots to vote in light of political developments since 2014, including Brexit.

Recent polling data suggested only one third of Scottish people support Ms Sturgeon’s call for a further independence referendum.

The SNP Leader has visited the United States as part of a political tour to encourage Scotland’s foreign relations.

In a social media post, Ms Sturgeon hinted she would be discussing Scottish independence with US officials as she met with Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, to discuss “Scotland’s future.”
