Desperate Britons determined to undo Brexiteers’ hard work will stage a five-day megaprotest in June when coronavirus restrictions are lifted. readers reacted with fury to the news, with some saying they find it “irritating” to watch Rejoiners carry on their battle while refusing to accept defeat.

One reader told those planning on attending the anti-Brexit marches that the ship has sailed and they would do better to look to the future.

The reader said: “Hey Rejoiners, the bus, train, plane has left.

“There is not another one along soon and no matter how hard you run you cannot catch it.

“Back your country as it forges forward rather than continuing a fight that you have lost.”

One man branded the group “Remaniacs” and questioned if they even “care for democracy?”

Another reader said it has become clear in the nearly five years since the UK voted out of the EU that Rejoiners “don’t understand what democracy means”.

And yet another said Rejoiners cannot bear the thought of living in an independent country not under the authority of Brussels.

The person said: “Stockholm syndrome! They miss being ordered about by the cabal.”

Others reacted angrily to the new of the planned rallies, saying if Rejoiners were so desperate to forge ties with Europe they should consider moving across the Channel.

One said: “Game over, no more EU club. Get over it.

“If you are not happy, go live in Euroland.”

One reader tore apart the protest plan, arguing against Rejoiners’ claims that the EU is to thank for keeping the peace in Europe since the Second World War.

They wrote: “I will be at the Leeds ‘rally’ with a placard informing these sour, bitter Remoaners that it has been NATO that has kept the peace in Europe for over 70 years, and NOT the gangsters in Brussels.”

They hit out at their “constant bleating about wanting to be controlled by a group of unelected, undemocratic, unaccountable incompetents” in the European Parliament.

Some readers adopted a calmer tone, assuring people that no matter how hard Rejoiners fight, Brexit is here to stay.

One said: “You needn’t worry. Britain will not rejoin, not in the foreseeable future anyway.”

Anti-Brexit activists are set to descend on 10 UK cities from June 23 to 27 after Boris Johnson rolls back Covid restrictions on public gatherings.

Once the rule of six returns later this month, small gatherings are expected to form outside Parliament, with protests calling on the Prime Minister to reverse the UK’s exit from the EU.

Arch-Remainer Steve Bray, organiser of the rallies, shared a poster on Twitter.

It read: “End the lies and corruption. We demand better.”

London, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham, Sheffield, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast have been earmarked for demonstrations.
