Chilling moment killer checks with police if his defenceless victim is dead

A twisted murderer has been filmed checking with police that he successfully killed his victim before confessing to the crime on chilling bodycam footage.

Lee Abbott, 35, stabbed pub landlord Christian Thornton, 49 to death simply because the dad-of-three barred him from the Hammer & Pincers in Widnes, Cheshire.

The vile thug inflicted 11 wounds on the defenceless victim during the horrendous attack on August 11 last year.

After he killed Christian, Abbott fled to a nearby friend’s house to wash his bloodstained clothes and hang them to dry.

Bodycam footage shows the moment armed police arrested the killer after raiding the property.

In the disturbing video, Abbot repeatedly admits to the crime.

The knifeman, who had been on a cocaine, wine and cider bender the night before, says: “I attacked that Chris in the belly, all me, it’s all my fault.

“I admit everything, I’m not going to deny everything.”

He then chillingly asks: “Is he dead? I did it.”

When police tell him why he is being arrested, the killer replies: “You don't need any evidence, I stabbed him to f***.”

Despite saying he would not “deny f*** all”, cowardly Abbott made his victim’s family endure a trial, reports LiverpoolEcho.

Abbott, of Rose Street, Widnes, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possessing an offensive weapon in public, but denied murder.

During his trial at Liverpool Crown Court, he said the admissions made on arrest were just to the act of killing the landlord, which he accepted responsibility for, reflected in his guilty plea to manslaughter.

The dad-of-two claimed he was a paranoid “madman” who had “lost the plot” after being sexually abused by a “gangster” as a teenager.

But even his own psychiatric expert agreed he was not psychotic and had no defence of “diminished responsibility”.

David McLachlan, QC, prosecuting, said he was "a master manipulator" who was "simply trying his best to get away with murder".

He reminded jurors Abbot had said “I stabbed him to f***”, which couldn’t make it “any clearer” that he committed murder.

Jurors unanimously found Abbott guilty of murder yesterday after less than two hours of deliberation, following the harrowing nine-day trial.

He will be sentenced later today.
