Eight patients die after ‘oxygen tank explodes’ in city centre hospital

Eight people have been killed in an explosion at a hospital, the victims are thought to be patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

The devastating incident took place in a private hospital in Turkey where it is a believed an oxygen cylinder burst.

A fire broke out after the explosion which has also left some injured in the province of Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at SANKO University Hospital reports Turkish outlet, Star Gazzete.

The explosion occurred in the early hours of the morning – according to local reports "there are many injured."
