Evil paedophile jailed for 775 years after sexually abusing baby girl on video

A paedophile has been jailed for up to 775 years after filming himself sexually abusing a baby girl on video.

Richard Smith was sentenced Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court to a minimum 205 years and maximum 775 years in prison.

He was convicted on 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, four counts of first-degree sexual assault and five counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.

Smith and his ex-girlfriend, Roseanna Thompson, were arrested after police were tipped off he had child porn at his home.

Thompson is set to go trial in March.

The couple were arrested in May, 2018, but the alleged crimes happened in 2015 at a home in South Charleston, West Virginia.

Smith’s wife Morgan claimed he was was verbally, physically, and mentally abusive to her during their relationship.

She did not believe his abuse went further though until she discovered a collection of video tapes.

Video alleged showed him and Thompson repeatedly molesting a baby girl.

Morgan previously said she now refused to go back inside their family home after the trauma.

Morgan said: “He had a lot of, in my opinion perverted fantasies, and I thought they were just that – fantasies.”

She added: “Just completely blew me away, turned my entire world upside down.”

Leaving after finding child porn on his computer and to escape his abuse, she discovered the tape while cleaning the house.

Immediately she called the police who swooped and arrested Smith and Thompson.

Morgan said: “It baffles me because I think kids are to be protected and cherished at all costs, so to know that somebody that I loved could do this.
