Golden retriever ‘who just loves mud’ is bane of his owner’s life

A cheeky golden retriever was told he could go for a long woodland walk as long as he kept his coat clean – with predictable results.

Wallace, whose owner describes him as the "muddiest dog in town", made a hilarious TikTok video showing the pooch looking absolutely pristine.

The on-screen caption reads: "You can be let off the lead but only if you stay away from the mud this time."

With an innocent expression, Wallace lolls his tongue out.

The video then cuts to the dog walking in the woods off the lead, charging through the mud with a serious case of the zoomies.

Already splattered in mud up to his tummy, the dog gives one last look at his owner and throws himself into a mud bath, rolling around until he is coated.

In the last frame, Wallace looks very pleased with himself as his coat is transformed from golden retriever to chocolate Lab.

TikTok user @wallaceisgolden wrote in the caption: "He just LOVES mud."

Posting a crying and laughing emoji, one fan wrote: "Stop drop and roll he has a career in the fire service."

A second person said: "Dear God I stress when my dog has muddy paws… My OCD just hit the roof."

"I think we should all go play in the mud if it takes us this happy," someone else wrote in support of Wallace's crazy antics.

A dog owner in a similar situation commented: "Too cute. My basset hound is the same, he sees mud and he has to roll in it."

This comes after a golden retriever caused a meltdown on social media with his sad expression as he waited for his favourite toy to be washed.

And a loyal golden retriever walked more than 60 miles to be reunited with his owner when he was left in the care of a friend.

The pooch endured four months of separation before showing signs of "depression" and embarking on the solo trip back home.
