Harry ‘feared’ chat with Queen was cut over ‘negotiating tactic’, expert claims

Prince Harry thought a personal meeting with the Queen had been postponed by his family to stop him using "informal conversations" as a "negotiating tactic", according to sensational claims in a new book.

In his new unauthorised biography ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, royal author Andrew Morton says a “last minute” cancellation of a one-to-one chat with Her Majesty gave Harry concerns about the impact of “internal politics” on his relationship with grandmother.

He went on to claim that the confusing change of plans left Harry and Meghan fearing that the “entire institution” of the Royal Family was turning against them.

Mr Morton writes: "This sense that, despite their international popularity, they were low down the royal totem pole was confirmed when Harry arranged to meet the Queen for a grandson-to-grandmother chat in early January. "

"At the last minute, the meeting was postponed. Harry suspected classic internal politics, his family concerned that anything the Queen agreed during informal conversations would be used by Harry as a negotiating tactic."

“The royal couple suspected that the entire institution was conspiring against them. As they saw it, the evidence was all around them.”

Mr Morton was not given permission to write the book by the Duchess of Sussex, 40, and has never met her.

Relations between the Sussexes and the rest of The Firm have been strained ever since they announced their departure as senior working royals in January 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved across the Atlantic with son Archie, now two, and have since welcomed their daughter Lilibet Diana.

And there have been warnings that the publication of Prince Harry's tell-all memoir next year could spell 'a point of no return' that could even leave his son Archie out in the cold in the future.

Harry promised to he would be writing an "accurate and wholly truthful" account of his life, explaining "I'm writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become," he said in a statement.

Previous bombshell interviews with Oprah Winfrey and James Corden are also known to have upset senior members of the family.
