They have been ordered to seal doors and windows with tape and wet towels and wear face coverings to protect their nose and mouth.

This comes after the lava from the volcano reached the sea, 10 days after it first erupted, sending a pyramid of lava 50 metres into the air.

An exclusion zone has been declared 3.5km around where the lava entered the sea.

No injuries have so far been reported.
