Man suspected of three sex assaults in Jefferson County held on $1 million bond

A man suspected of multiple sex assaults in Jefferson County has been arrested and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Joseph Van Eck, 32, is accused of sexually assaulting three women since Aug. 21, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

He was arrested Friday and booked into the Jefferson County jail. Investigators say that Van Eck, driving a vehicle, picked up the victims along West Colfax Avenue and drove to a secluded location where they were sexually assaulted.

Lakewood police and the FBI have assisted in the investigation. Van Eck is being held on suspicion of sex assault and kidnapping. An investigation is ongoing.
