Former first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has slammed a historian who accused her of destroying American history with the redesign of the White House’s Rose Garden.
Author and presidential biographer Michael Beschloss sparked Melania’s wrath after he wrote on Twitter that her gardening had a “grim result” and caused “decades of American history to disappear”.
Furious Melania hit back and pointed out the photo in his tweet showed the garden before work had been completed.
She said the historian had “proven his ignorance” and accused him of being “dishonourable”.
“The Rose Garden is graced with a healthy & colorful blossoming of roses,” she added.
“He should never be trusted as a professional historian.”
Paid for by private investors, the White House’s Rose Garden has long been a project of Melania’s, reports the Daily Mail.
She revealed her plans to renovate the area in August last year and announced it would be a throwback to honour the original design.
The plans were a nod to the original design by Bunny Mellon, at the personal request of President John F. Kennedy in the early 1960s.
But it didn’t go without controversy and avid watchers of the White House’s Rose Garden were infuriated when Melania decided to remove the crab apple trees which had been there for over half a century.
Officials defended the move and claimed the trees were making too much shade and were preventing other flowers from growing.
Eagle-eyed commentators have previously blasted Melania’s garden for being boring.

Her choice of a pale color palette left some fans fuming at the “small and bare” garden compared to the big, bright growth opted for during Obama’s reign.
But the critics will be satisfied at the state of the garden now it is in full bloom.
The plants have sprung up – some to heights of four feet – and vibrant pink blossoms mix with pale white roses and soft purple plants.
Even Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, has admitted she likes the design.
The current first lady admired a picture of the garden in its beautiful bloom and wrote: “Spring is here!”
However, thousands of Americans are backing historian Beschloss in the condemnation of the White House Rose Garden and over 81,000 have signed a petition demanding it to be changed.
One furious patriot wrote: “I’m still in disbelief that (she) did this to Jackie’s garden. Do they have no shame? The rose garden must be restored!”
Despite Melania’s fierce protection of her garden from criticism, she didn’t get much time to enjoy it in bloom.
Just seven months after its completion, the Trumps were booted out of the White House and the garden is now in possession of the Bidens.
