American rapper Pop Smoke has been murdered aged just 20.

The star was shot and killed in a house he was staying in in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday morning.

TMZ reports that masked gunmen broke into his house at around 4.30am local time (12.30pm UK time) and killed the drill star after what was believed to be a botched burglary.

The Brooklyn-born rapper was staying at an Airbnb property owned by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, daughter of singer 1980s singer John Mellencamp.

TMZ reports the star was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
