A schoolpal says he'd hug Shamima Begum if he saw her again.
He said he'd forgiven her and Amima Abase for trying to get him to join ISIS while at Bethnal Green Academy.
“It was very attractive and I could see why those girls wanted to be there," he told MyLondon.
“The first thing I would do is give her a hug.
“She felt helpless, I'm pretty sure she still feels helpless, there's no support for her.”
The unnamed ex-pupil, who is not of a Muslim background, said Begum's comments since being discovered in a Syria camp made him uncomfortable.
But he added: “I always believe in second chances, people make mistakes.
“I personally forgive her for trying to rope us into it.”
He also described how the school became like "North Korea" after news of Begum, Abase and Kadiza Sultana leaving the UK to join ISIS broke in 2015.
"The next day every single kid that was close to them had to register with this police officer in the morning,” he said.

“If you don't register, right in the morning, they will immediately call your family and if they don't pick up, they’d go to the house and see what's going on. It was very scary."
He added: “If you utter one word about it you were in detention.
“It felt like you were in an authoritarian regime where you're controlled and can't say certain stuff.”
Another ex-pupil at the school said 21-year-old Begum was a traitor.

She looked up to Begum and Abase as older girls who wore hijabs confidently at her school.
“As a Muslim girl, she went to join a group that tries to make us look like the most horrible people," she told the news site.
“It's just like, how could you betray your people like that? How could you betray your family? and yourself?"
Shamima Begum says she feared being 'left behind' by pals joining ISIS in Syria
The former ISIS bride Shamima Begum recently begged to return home to the UK, branding herself 'a dumb kid' when she left the country to join the terror organisation.
Speaking to Andrew Drury for his film Danger Zone from the al-Roj prison camp in Syria, when asked if she had a message for the UK government, Begum said: "Can I come home please, pretty please?"
