MPs have voted in favour of the new coronavirus tiers in the House of Commons, set to be introduced this week.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's proposals passed in the House of Commons by 291 votes to 78 after the Labour Party abstained.

It marks the biggest Conservative rebellion of this Parliament.

Labour leader Keir Starmer said he had "serious misgivings" about the measures, but added that the virus still poses a "serious risk".

Many MPs are worried about the economic impact – with 99% of England facing the toughest two tiers.
