Trump surge: President set for four more years as breakthrough poll makes bold prediction

In a massive boost to the US President, new data shows his approval ratings in positive territory for the first time since his election. Moreover, an average of polls indicate that Trump’s popularity has actually been increasing ever since impeachment proceedings began back in September 2019. A new Gallup poll gave the US President a 49 percent approval rating and a disapproval rating of 48 percent.

This latest result helps to raise Trump’s average approval rating to 43.3 percent, compared to 52.2 percent disapproving.

CNN analyst Harry Enten commented: “Trump’s approval rating is going up at the right time.

“Approval ratings become much more predictive by March of the election year.”

He added: “Presidents with approval ratings between roughly 46 percent and 54 percent at this point usually face close re-election battles.

“Presidents with approval ratings at 45 percent or below usually lose.

“If past history holds, Trump’s approval rating may continue to rise just enough to make him a favourite.”

With the economy booming, more and more Americans are convinced that Trump will win a second term.

On Sunday, a CBS News poll said 65 percent of Americans think Trump will win re-election in a tight race against the eventual Democratic nominee.

As things stand, Trump will most likely face Bernie Sanders as his challenger in the November elections.

The Vermont Senator secured his position as favourite for the Democratic nomination with a thumping win in the Nevada caucuses.

Mr Sanders represents the left wing of his party and has championed sweeping changes to health care, financial and other systems.

To achieve this he plans to tax higher-income and wealthier Americans to create new benefits for everyone else.

According to one US poll, Mr Sanders has a slim lead over Trump in a notional general election match-up.

The average of head-to-head polls puts Trump down four points against Mr Sanders.

However, Mr Enten argues that this is far from a dominant position and could easily be overturned.

This comes as Donald Trump prepares to set off on a two day visit to India, where he could be forced to go without his favourite meal of steak and ketchup and feast only on vegetarian dishes.

The US President is known for his love of beef and his diet often consists of a selection of steaks, burgers and meatloaf.

However, the US President could be in for a severe culture shock, as his host, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a devoted vegetarian and plans to serve vegetarian food to the President, according to people familiar with the planning.

Trump will have several meals with the Indian Prime Minister, including a lunch and formal banquet on Tuesday evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official presidential palace in Delhi.

His visit will also include stopovers in Gujarat state, Agra and Delhi, where cows are revered as sacred and meat eating is a taboo.

A person familiar with the President’s eating habits confided to CNN that although Trump has salad with a meal every now and again, he had “never seen him eat a vegetable.”
