UK weather forecast: Atlantic storms to blast country with heavy rain [COMMENT]
Bookies have suggested next month could be one of the coldest January’s on record ever.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We’re strapping ourselves in and wrapping up for what looks set to be a record-breaking cold January, with temperatures preparing to plummet once again.”
Tony Zartman, a meteorologist at Accuweather, told Express.co.uk: As far as January 8, that is too far ahead for specific details.
“However, the weather does look changeable as we head to the second week of January.”
Western England is expected to be battered by an Atlantic storm on New Year’s Day, bringing strong winds to the country.
Mr Zartman predicted a storm will bring unsettled weather to the UK from Wednesday into Thursday.
He told Express.co.uk: “It will continue to remain unsettled at times, although mild, through the end of the week.
“A storm over the eastern Atlantic could bring showers and gusty winds for New Year’s Day with the strongest winds over western portions of the UK.”
