UK snow map: Snowfall forecast for Britain in wake of BRUTAL Storm Dennis – latest warning

The UK has witnessed weeks of bad weather, and forecasts suggest the weather patterns will continue throughout the week. The Met Office has issued a number of warnings over the next few days, and weather maps show snow may fall over some regions of the UK.

The Met Office issued a snow and ice warning for parts of Scotland on Monday at 6pm, which expires at 11am on Tuesday.

The warning covers a number of regions in Scotland, including Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway, South Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders.

The Met Office warns up to two inches of snowfall is possible in some areas under the warning.

The warning reads: “Frequent showers will turn increasingly wintry through Monday evening, allowing snow to settle on some higher routes.”

Winter overview maps from WXCHARTS also show snow heading for the UK around Thursday this week, suggesting more snow could well be on the way.

In addition to snow, the rest of the week looks likely to be filled with rain and strong winds for many.

The Met Office has issued additional yellow rain warnings for parts of Wales, between 6pm on Wednesday until 3pm on Thursday.

The Met Office are forecasting for Wednesday: “Cold, bright start for most but early cloud and rain over Cornwall will spread eastwards.

“Rain then turns heavy at times over high ground in the west later. Turning windier.”

On Thursday, the Met Office is forecasting “rain, some heavy, spreading East then blustery showers.”

More than 300 flood warnings and alerts are currently active in England as communities reel from the effects of Storm Dennis over the weekend.

More than 400 properties have been damaged, while a further estimated 800 properties were damaged by flooding caused by Storm Ciara the weekend before.

The Environment Agency has issued eight ‘danger to life’ warnings in the following regions as of Tuesday morning:

  • River Lugg at Hampton Bishop
  • River Severn at New Street, Upton upon Severn
  • River Severn at the Wharfage, Ironbridge
  • River Severn at Uckinghall
  • River Severn at Waterside, Upton upon Severn
  • River Trent at Burton upon Trent
  • River Wye at Blackmarstone, Hereford
  • River Wye at Hampton Bishop
