Viral video shows eerily accurate assumptions that Google makes about you

A woman has shared a quick way to find out how much Google knows about you through your online searches.

Trish Kabob responded to a TikTok request asking for a "random fact that only you know" by explaining how there is a way to find out the remarkable amount Google knows about you.

In the clip viewed more than 7 million times, Trish introduces herself as a digital marketer.

She says: "If you've ever thought 'huh, this is a weird ad for me to be seeing', there is actually a website you can go to, to see all of the assumptions Google has made about you based on your previous searches.

"So as long as you're logged into a device that has logged into a Google account, go to adssettings.google.com.

"And here you will able to see every assumption Google has made about you and why you see the ads that you see."

The personalised ads are based on the searches made on Google and YouTube.

Trish shows the search engine's ad personalisation correctly pinpointed her age as between 35 and 44 years old.

Google has also managed to get hold of the gender and some other interests that Trish is into.

You can turn off most of the categories on the list but not all.

"If you ever Google it [the topics], it is somewhere in there," Trish added.

"You can edit specific modifications but you can also turn off personalisation all together. Hooray Big Brother."

Viewers commented their interesting finds after trying Trish's suggestion.

One said: "I'm most offended that it thinks I like country music."

Another was baffled, adding: "Mine said I'm not a parent, but I'm interested in parenting??"

"Apparently Google knows me better than my partner," a third joked.
