Woman dies in motorcycle crash marking 25th traffic fatality of the year, Aurora police say

Aurora police say a motorcycle driver was killed after colliding with a pickup truck at an intersection Wednesday evening.

Calls to 911 reported a “serious crash” at the intersection of North Catawba Way and East 6th Parkway around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday.

When Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora police arrived, they found a woman laying on the road. Despite being taken to the hospital, she did not survive her injuries, according to a news release.

According to police, a Dodge pickup truck was crossing over East 6th Parkway while the motorcycle was headed eastbound on East 6th Parkway when the two collided.

The driver of the Dodge stayed at the scene, police said, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Eastbound East 6th Parkway was closed for multiple hours as investigators gathered evidence. Speed is being looked at as a contributing factor in the crash.

The identification of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

Police said that Wednesday’s crash marks the 25th traffic-related fatality of 2022.
