YMCA fire burning near Cañon City is about 300 acres and 30% contained.

A wildfire burning about four miles southwest of Cañon City had grown to about 293 acres Thursday, and firefighters had the blaze about 30% contained.

Lightning sparked the YMCA fire, burning on Bureau of Land Management land, and it continues to produce smoke that’s visible in and around Cañon City, fire officials said.

No evacuations have been ordered, and 141 firefighters are battling the blaze.

Helicopters continued to make bucket drops Thursday, and four hand crews used fire retardant dropped by aircraft to create a control line.

Fire crews worked into the evening and were watching the fire at night, when temperatures were expected to drop into the upper 50s.
